Walmart Gets Jakks Pacific Sonic Figures
Yes the headline is big enough to warrant a blog post to get the word out.
EVERYONE has had some kind of trouble getting at least 1 (if not more/all) of the Jakks Pacific Sonic figures that they want. I have not encountered a single fan or single write-in to the site where the person got everything they wanted. And, I am at the top of the list too, along with everyone else as a figure collector. So it's great news that
Walmart is getting the figures!
Starting NOW in spring 2021, you should start seeing these show up in the action figure aisle probably near the other 'video game character' section. This is great news because Target seemingly can't keep these things in stock worth beans. They also don't sell them on the website, which also really doesn't help. Walmart likely won't either, but having 2 chances at figures with every shopping trip makes things better. They're the same price too, which is fine/normal. With JP just releasing things willy nilly all over the place fans need an actual chance to get figures before they disappear. It'll also help fight the scourge of scalpers because no one will want to pay their stupid prices when they can just go to the store.
Calendar of Crud:
It's somehow active again? People are finding more holiday plush? I have no idea what brought it on after all these years. Very strange.
The Jakks Prototypes:
Wow are they not cool. When I saw these I was certain it was a collection of bootlegs. And they did do an effort, and improve things but....their plush still aren't good? They're not Jazwares levels of junk but like...why is it so hard to make a Sonic doll that looks like the character? Everything 'stylized' or 'chibi' or whatever is cheating a bit "oh its wrong but it's wrong in a cute way", yeah ok but that's fine IF IF IF there are real good looking / normal ones available as well.
*It's been proven that good/accurate looking dolls are possible, thanks to GE Entertainment making them at reasonable prices too so....there's not really an excuse.
BOOTLEG PSA:
NEVER GET "Sonic MODS" for ANY game: Now that cartridges are gone, 'mods' are the new way for fakers to peddle trash to people in popular places like Minecraft. Anything where it's not actually offical/Sega and it says "Put Sonic in __!" is not only fake but can be dangerous! Badly done mods will use stolen assets, lie about Sonic, and even break or crash the game. You paid good money for real games, don't jeopardize them with fake mods.
This announcement is also on the Avoid Bootlegs Hub page, because this phenomenon is probably never going away.
Item of the (last) week:
The Hallmark Ornaments. They're probably going to be over priced like 15 dollars each or something (it is unknown price as of this writing) but they proooobably will be worth it. They're not 'Christmasey' in any way so you can just use them as hangable display figures year-round to get better use/fun out of them anyway. They're not holiday, but they're also fine if you want to have them on the tree as well. They're surprisingly well thought out with cool hang-ready poses and the sculpting is good. (It must be noted that it isn't always good with Hallmark's use of whatever other properties, they've made some costly mutant things in the past so it's nice to see that Sonic seems safe with them) I will likely get these if I can find them.
Next Week:
Both Target & Kohls are getting more Sonic things--yes, again! It's surprising because we seem to be entering/already in some kind of 'very Sonic' era of merchandise.
