New Monitor Update- The Site's Fine
Where was the update last week?
Well, the computer monitor decided that it was the day that it would stop working forever and quit. Well how old was it? I don't remember. So, that's saying something. I guess the 12 to 15 year lifespan on them is no lie---when used like.......turbo-many hours out of every day. Although it was a quite quality monitor it just stopped and had to be replaced, so no update. But, the site's fine, it's updated for this week, and all is well on a new, larger screen.
A comment on a previous post....
Brings up a good point! But, without an answer. Regarding all the Sonic stuff at Target, it asks "But why tho" and....
A good question.
Target, like other big retailers has master buyers who decide what sorts of things the store should get for the season. It likely has one in each of their categories of merch. Various influences go into selecting what it'll get, like trade shows/trade mags (for exposure), looking at charts on things that did well in the past, probably good deals/profit opportunities and more.
The other factor being what brands Target works with (Ex. Just Funky, Jakks Pacific etc) and what they're offering at the time. It just so happens that now, for whatever reason, many companies just...have a batch of Sonic stuff & Target has decided to pick it up because it seems to be selling well. Jakks Pacific for instance, has always been on store shelves, but with other brands. JUSTToys is the same way. Just Funky works with more than Sonic, and so does BioWorld. So, if they had other stuff already in Target, it's an easy thing for the master buyer to go "Oh well we'll just add Sonic's line of Just Funky Stuff in here too".
But WHY so much Sonic merch NOW?
Notice how he doesn't even have a big new game out. There's nothing to be promoting him for and it's not like he randomly had a show or a surge in popularity--though the surge in merch is real. Usually when there's a ton of stuff a franchise is trying to make a 'comeback' or a debut or something but that's not the case here. You saw this with Boom, where suddenly other versions of Sonic weren't allowed and they flooded with boomstyle stuff (and it didn't work), or when the Racers games were really big and everybody was doing Sonic/etc in cars on tees, figures, etc. But now, the most recent thing was the movie but moviestyle is so ugly it can't even sell pictures on tees and the merch was so gross it stayed small. (How fortunate......geez learn a lesson)
The bottom line: I have no idea why there's so much Sonic stuff now. But it's good.
The update:
I think that's the first toddler size backpack made for actual toddlers that's been done
How many of that 'his face is socks' does that make now? idk but its a lot
Video Heroes Sonic Book - As a book collector I would buy this but it is very thin and the price is high and you know everything in there is gonna be a rerun
Item of the week:
Probably the pull-over hoodie. It is classic style but it is also classic STYLED where like...it looks like it would be something from that era.
Or
Classic Sonic Jakks Pacific figure with the spring bumper- This is a great job by them except for his teeth. It looks like he's got white lips and it doesn't look right. Classic Sonic is a suuuper simple design on purpose--that's why it works. Adding in modern type details doesn't work in all instances and his white lip lookin' teeth are an example of this here. He doesn't need 'em. Keep classic's expressions...classic.
Next Week:
We're finally getting off of 'target everything', which is fine. It'll have a bigger rundown on Craftables though (which are at Target) which I do like--a return to a 'rundown' type of entry where it goes into detail. It may have a blog post for that week too.
